SOMATIC EXPERIENCING
What is Somatic Experiencing?
Somatic Experiencing (SE™) is body-focused healing modality leveraged in healing trauma, unearthing reoccurring patterns, and processing intense emotions stored in the body. This is a physiological approach working with information surfacing from our body and nervous system through thoughts, sensations, emotions, movements, images, and dialogue. It is a body-oriented therapeutic model applied in multiple professions and professional settings for healing trauma and other stress from a nervous system lens within a practitioner’s scope of practice.
Specifically when it comes to trauma, there is potential for the nervous system to become stuck in fight, flight, or freeze responses. SE helps us release, recover, and become more resilient. We learn how to dial back and access the internal landscape of our body and the total sum of the human experience. This allows us to consider the intelligence of all the information surfacing from ourselves as our material to explore and work with.
At a gradual and safe pace, we track our body’s memories and experiences in the present moment to allow incomplete energy from the past self-protective responses to move through our system so they can ultimately be resolved . We are then able to release what no longer serves us or is ours to carry, and reclaim our innate essence, life force, and vitality.

Values and Approach:
I am a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP ™) through completion of Somatic Experiencing International’s 3 year certification program and offer one-to one sessions though my practice, Reclaiming Resilience Somatic Arts. I provide a supportive and strongly held container that ranges from focused trauma resolution to personalized somatic explorations, in alignment with your needs and goals.
My professional and personal experiences allow me to show up authentically as a practitioner, and work from an informed place of intuition with a human approach. My experience as a guide in the practice and art of movement has deeply informed my angle and lens when it comes to how I hold SE sessions, including curiosity, creativity, choice, and autonomy. I hold and contain the space for you with a deep level of presence and reverence for all that you are as I work collaboratively with you to come home to your own creative source within yourself, transforming your inner world and experiences into the external world, on your terms and in your own power.
I strongly believe in the capacity of our nervous system to heal us, and through receiving my own Somatic Experiencing sessions, I have experienced first hand the transformative effects of how I experience myself, others, and the world around me.
I can provide sessions to anyone in the world virtually, as well as at my in-person location in Northern Virginia.
